Asia Institute Webinar on Buddhist Philosophy

Buddhist Philosophy as the Basis for a Humanistic Approach to Governance

Date:  June 16, 2023

Time: 06:00 – 07:30 PM [Tokyo Time]

04:00 – 05:30 PM [Bangkok Time]

We find ourselves in a global rush to war driven by concepts of security rooted in Christian Millenarianism and the famous Roman adage of zero-sum politics: “If you want peace, prepare for war.” But Asia offers a rich Buddhist tradition of interpretations of security which offer far more comprehensive, and far more appropriate solutions to the challenges of our age. In this seminar we will consider what Buddhist philosophy can offer to humanity at this critical moment when militarism seems to have seized control of all aspects of governance.
