Asia Institute seminar on climate change: “APOCALYPSE YESTERDAY” | The Asia Institute

“APOCALYPSE YESTERDAY: THE CLIMATE CRISIS AS THE ULTIMATE BOON FOR INNOVATION,” an Asia Institute seminar led by Daniel Garrett, Senior Associate, and former U.S. diplomat was held on February 27, 2017. Garrett gave a brutally honest assessment of the economic and social impacts of climate change for Northeast Asia over the next forty years and suggested what steps needed to be taken.

He suggested that our indulgent culture has shown such complete disregard for the environment that our practices are worse than capitalism. Garrett noted, “this is worse than cannibalism or vampirims in that we are devouring our mother the Earth as she feeds us.
