Time: 08:00-09:30 [Seoul Time]
A discussion on “How to create momentum for peace and stability with Russia and China” organised by the Asia Institute Korea. Other panelists include Dr. Lakhvinder SIngh, Gen. In-Bum Chun, Mr Ararat Kostanian, Dr. Rajiv Ranjan. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Emanuel Pasterich.
The conflict in the Ukraine has created strains in the international community, and the threat of a rapidly escalating global conflict, that could rend asunder the international institutions that we have grown familiar with and leave us facing an unfamiliar diplomatic landscape. We face the serious risk of a full-spectrum confrontation with China and Russia right now, perhaps even at the same time. This outcome would be a challenge we have not seen in our lifetime. The time has come to focus and to take positive action.
The seminar will bring together a group of experts to discuss the nature of the current geopolitical breakdown and to propose concrete measures that we can take that will produce a momentum towards peace, and away from war. The process will be slow, but it demands our full attention.
